Wall Graphics and Murals
A blank wall is the biggest piece of signage most businesses own and the one they almost never use. Whether it gets printed and applied or hand painted depends on the surface, the budget and how long you want it to last.
We do both across the Sunshine Coast.
Digital printed wall graphics
Large format printing applied straight onto the wall. Fast, full colour, photographic quality, and you can cover a very large area for a fraction of what a painted mural costs.
We print on wall media designed for the surface it is going onto. Smooth painted plasterboard takes a self adhesive vinyl beautifully. Lightly textured walls need a conformable film with a strong adhesive. Heavily textured render, brick or blockwork will not hold vinyl properly at all, and on those surfaces a hand painted mural is the honest recommendation rather than a print that starts lifting at the edges in six months.
Common jobs:
- Feature walls in retail, gyms, cafes and clinics
- Office and reception wall branding, values, timelines and team walls
- Full wall photographic murals in hospitality
- Construction and shopping centre hoarding graphics. See billboards and hoarding
- Removable wall decals for shorter term campaigns
For rented premises, ask us about removable wall media. It comes off cleanly at the end of the lease without taking the paint with it, which makes the make good conversation a lot shorter.
Hand painted murals and signwriting
Traditional brush signwriting mostly disappeared from commercial work in the eighties when computer cutting arrived. It has come back strongly in the last decade, and for good reason.
Paint goes onto surfaces that vinyl simply cannot handle. Rough render, tilt slab, blockwork, old brick, corrugated iron. It sits into the texture rather than fighting it. In a high UV, high salt position, a properly prepared and painted wall will outlast a printed graphic by years. And there is a look to a hand painted wall that a print does not replicate, which is exactly why hospitality and retail keep asking for it.
We paint murals, hand lettered signage, building facades, feature walls and heritage style signwriting. External walls, internal walls, and large scale branding pieces.
Which one should you choose?
Choose printed graphics if the wall is smooth, the artwork is photographic or highly detailed, the budget is tighter, or you want it up quickly. Print is measured in days.
Choose a painted mural if the wall is textured or masonry, the position is exposed to hard sun, you want maximum lifespan, or you want the handmade look. Painting is measured in days on site, sometimes weeks for a large piece.
We are happy to price both so you can compare properly.
Frequently asked questions
How long do wall graphics last?
An internal printed graphic on a good surface will typically look right for five to seven years or more. External printed graphics in full Queensland sun are more like three to five years even with a UV laminate. A properly prepared and sealed hand painted external mural can go ten years or beyond, with a touch up along the way.
Can you print a photo across a whole wall?
Yes. We will need a high resolution file. Photos pulled off a website or social media generally will not hold up at that size. If the resolution is not there, we will tell you before you pay for it rather than after.
Will the graphic damage my wall when it comes off?
On a soundly painted internal wall, removable wall media comes away cleanly. On old, chalky or poorly adhered paint, any adhesive film can pull paint with it. We will test a small area first if there is any doubt.
Do you paint murals on private homes?
Yes, we do residential murals and feature walls as well as commercial work.
