Sign Maintenance and Repairs

Signs live outside. Salt air, UV, storms and the occasional reversing delivery truck all take their toll, and a sign with half the letters dark or a cracked yellow face says something about your business that you did not intend to say.

We repair and maintain signage across the Sunshine Coast, including signs we did not build.

What we fix

LED and lightbox faults. Dark panels, dead sections, flickering, signs that will not switch on. Usually a failed power supply or a module run rather than the whole sign, and it is a straightforward repair.

Fluorescent to LED conversions. If your sign still runs tubes, converting to LED gets rid of the dead tube shadows, cuts the running cost and stops the recurring service calls.

Replacement sign faces. Faded, yellowed, cracked or out of date acrylic and flexface panels remade to fit the existing case. Very common when a business changes hands or rebrands, and far cheaper than a new sign.

Storm and impact damage. Wind damage, fallen branches, vehicle strikes. We assess it, make it safe, and quote the repair.

Rebranding existing signage. New graphics onto an existing structure. Overlays, new faces, new lettering. Keeps the capital cost down considerably.

Vinyl and graphic replacement. Lifting, peeling or faded vinyl stripped and replaced.

Cleaning. Signs collect grime, mould and salt residue, particularly on the coast. A clean makes a surprising difference and it extends the life of the graphics.

Timers and photocells. Fitting or replacing controls so the sign runs when you want it running.

Scheduled maintenance

For multi site operators, body corporates, centres and anyone with a lot of signage, we can set up a scheduled check rather than waiting for something to fail visibly. An annual or six monthly inspection covering illumination, fixings, corrosion and general condition catches the small problems while they are still small.

Fixings are the one worth being systematic about. A sign that has been up ten years in salt air can have fixings that are considerably less sound than they look, and that is a safety issue as much as a maintenance one.

Frequently asked questions

My sign has gone dark. Is it worth repairing or should I replace it?

Nearly always worth repairing first. The expensive parts of an illuminated sign are the case, the structure and the wiring, and those usually outlast the components inside. Send us a photo and we will give you a view before you spend anything.

Do you repair signs you did not make?

Yes, that is a large part of this work. Send photos of the sign, the location and any visible damage.

How quickly can you get to a fault?

It depends on the day and what is in front of us. If the sign is unsafe, tell us that when you call and we will prioritise making it safe. For general faults we will give you a realistic timeframe rather than an optimistic one.

Can you take an old sign down for us?

Yes, including end of lease make good and removal of a previous tenant's branding. See sign installation.
